Herts 7s: footnote

I've just realised. Unless I am mistaken, the result on Sunday against Kettering was the largest win - certainly the largest margin of victory - we have ever attained in any match of any sort.

In addition, I think, its the first time we have broken throgh 50 points - even if it isn't it is definately the first time we have kept a clean sheet doing so. The very first game we ever played - against Milton Keynes in 2005 - finished about 42-12 and was, I thought, still pretty much our best result. Last season's home game with Saracens and some of the Ampthill meetings may have been fairly close - but in all of those we did conceed points as well.

Hence my near certainty that last Sunday was a new record!

(Its possible we may have conceeded more in a non-training fixture - perhaps one of our earliest Welwyn games, or the first Nationals 7s, or the Mid-Warwickshire debacle - but actually I doubt even that.)

  1. I agree that the Kettering game was the largest margin of victory Letchworth U18s have ever achieved but one can also reflect that only last November Kettering treated us to a home defeat by the not insignificant margin of 5-44!

I believe the highest points scored by Letchworth U18s in a game was in the March 07 match against Saracens which ended 59-10.

On the other hand, the largest margin of defeat, I think, remains the two 44-0 results against Worcester and Paviors in the National (underwater) 10s last year.
