Congratulations to Presdales

Though not on our "patch" a note of congratulations is due to Presdales School from Ware, who on Saturday became the national Emerging Schools champions at Twickenham, beating a school from Liskeard in the final. Congratulations are also due to another school from just outside our area - Alameda Middle School, Ampthill - who reached the finals as East Midlands champions.

Presdales won the London North title some time last term - one of two Herts schools to enter (the other being Nobel from Stevenage). Wonky, Henry et al had been working in our local schools to try to get a Letchworth or North Herts entry but, especially as this is now a Year 7 competition, this proved impossible to achieve - and it is a not insignificant fact that Presdales are girls-only school (so will have more Year 7s to choose from than most secondary schools) and that Alameda are a middle school (and will therefore have been able to call on Year 6s as well as Year 7s).

Presdales already have strong links with Hertford, and their girls can be expected to become part of their U15 team next season, and hopefully Alameda and Nobels girls will remain in the game. Perhaps our local schools will also be inspired by Presdales to enter the tournament next season!
