HPA results

Bad news from Brunel where it appears that (according to the Herts blog) neither Hayley nor Sasha have been selected to go on to the next stage of the TDG selection process. Apparently, from what we hear from those watching, Hayley seemed to have had a very good trial, but standards are clearly higher this year than ever before.

Indeed Hayley and Sasha are not alone in their disappointment. Incredibly (comparing it with previous seasons) of the eight Hertfordshire U18s at the HPA only one made it through, and the one that did - Claire Shutler - was selected from the regional U15 squad. None of those put forward from the U18 squad were selected.

So this means that the only girls from last season's Hertfordshire's U18s at this summer's trials will be the three girls who were in last season's TDG - probably the smallest group the county team has sent since the TDG process began?

    John,

To put your comments in perspective, regarding the 8 Herts Girls selected to go to the U18 HPA: Claire deserves great praise for being selected for the next stage as she is yet to play at U18 level; Sam and Georgia were at their first U18 HPA as they were also both part of last seasons East U15 squad; Casey wasn't able to attend as she is currently injured; Alice wasn't able to attend as she is out of the Country for the Summer (she was also part of last seasons East U15 squad).

  2. I certainly wasn't saying anything against Claire's performance - it is impressive - I was just the highlighting the unusual lack of Herts success this year. We aren;t used to only getting one out of eight through.

The fact that so few were essentially U15s does go some way to explain it. I must admit I hadn't realised how few Herts U18s the region had put forward - just four (or three if you count Sasha as Eastern Cos)?

    John,

To put your comments in perspective again, Herts will have 4 Girls at the final TDG Trial this month, as in addition to Claire, 3 of last seasons Herts U18Players, Hannah G, Megan W and Alex R (who were part of the TDG last season) were not required to attend the recent HPA. 4 Trialists from Herts compares well with most County's.
