Ups and downs in the counties
The "final" trial for the Hertfordshire U18 squad a bit of a disapointing yesterday - only around 12 players attended, of whom only Charlie (I think) was not already in the squad - which will make the finalisation of the county squad a shade challenging. As you will have seen from the county blog there is a special session for backs tonight at OAs, starting at 7.30 - after yesterday the door is definately still open, so if you can make it you stand a good chance of making the final team.
Better news from other counties is that Sasha has won her place in the Eastern Counties squad, and some similarly good news from East Midlands is expected once the selection there is made official.
I also hear that Eastern Counties demolished Middlesex yesterday (score awaited) - looks like the title of leading county in East Region could be a very close three-way battle this year!

U18s - Eastern Counties much stronger than Middx - 15-5 over 15 minutes (with Sasha on loan to Middx), after which teams were shuffled around due to Middx having low numbers. The rest of the afternoon was played as a friendly.
ReplyDeleteU15s was a different story - 10-47 at the end of a full game.

ReplyDeletehave we got girls in the East Midlands regional team then.
I thought that all our girls had to play for East as we are in that area.
I know there was talk of being able to try for East midlands because of the Amptill link, but Beds have now been grouped in East.
If that is the case 'said'... then clearly no-one has told Bedfordshire's rugby authorities as they are still working with Northamptonshire as part of the East Midlands COUNTY team, which in turn will lead into the East Midlands REGIONAl team (they are different things!!).
ReplyDeleteAnd in truth I think you are wrong - I have seen nothing that moves Beds out of East Midlands, a decision that would go against the idea of moving towards the RFU regions.
In the documentation I have received from the RFUW. Beds are in East Region now.

ReplyDeleteGavin is correct.
Following a meeting with Amanda last week, I recieved the documentation for this years reional programme and it clearly shows Beds are now in the EAST region.
Any Letchworth girls hoping to use the Amptill link to trial for East Midlands will find they have to trial for East.
If you require any further info please give either Amanda or myself a call.

Bedfordshire is in the East Midlands as the RFUW regional area plan released today.
