History of rugby: Part 1

This is the first part of a video History of Rugby, being published by Rugby Dump. They say that other parts will follow if there is sufficient interest, and it is the early parts look like being the most fascinating. After a brief introduction talking about "great teams" Part 1 (below) looks at all sorts of fascinating trivia, like...
  • Who was Webb Ellis - and did he really start the game?
  • Why do England wear white?
  • Why is a try called a try?
  • Why are goals scored by kicking the ball over the bar (not under, as in just about every other football code)?
  • ... and so on
For those interested in this sort of thing, there will be an exhibition on the history of women's rugby at Twickenham from the middle of August and right through the World Cup. Should be well worth dropping in to see, especially if you are in London for the final.
