"Brilliant" Syd try defeats Kent
News from Herts U15 game with Kent where a try from Syd ensured the defeat of Kent today.
A long period of forward play had just resulted in Hertfordshire's first try, when Sydney caught the resulting restart. From there, to quote one spectator, Syd went on a "brilliant ... run down the line from Kent, evading and handing off several to score under the post".
The resulting conversion put Herts 12-7 ahead, which was to be the final score - a truly impressive win over a county that has been playing a series of extra unsanctioned matches in recent weeks. We shall now wait to see who gets to go to the Divisional trials - but at least one Letchworth girls looks a pretty safe bet!

Facts, dear boy... the kent team you played at under 15 have not even trained for 3 weeks let alone played "unsanctioned" games. Dont undermine the quality of your victory with this nonsense.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I am not Hertfordshire - so this was not "my" victory - though it was for at least one of Letchworth's players.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, the lack of training also applies to Hertfordshire - but rather more because Herts seem to have stuck to the official RFUW programme, ie. two fixtures and two training session. If various other county websites (and other information I have been sent) are correct then other counties - including (apparently) Kent, Surrey and Sussex - at the very least PLANNED both extra fixtures and training that went beyond that sanctioned by RFUW.
If these did not happen then, perhaps, it is fortunate as it has also been suggested that such extra sessions would have breached the terms of insurance and endangering "club mark" accreditations as such sessions and matches would have been outside of the structured season.
Those counties that approached RFUW for official permission to organise extra training and matches were refused.
John, Since you are not part of Herts perhaps that is why you are so mis-informed. Teams played friendlies. RFU encouraged friendlies and even went so far as to try to include them on Rugby first. What nonsense about insurance and "refusal" to allow teams to play. Talk to your RFU CB co-ordinator mate. And take this offline as you are making yourself look like a dick. I am happy for you to remove this comment once you have taken it in.

Roger - very strong words for this blog, you should talk to Hampshire who were refused permission to play extra games or even train mid week. Even better talk with Keely Fathers who I am sure will put you right in your thinking. the RFUW have only sanctioned 2 friendlies and 2 training sessions.
ReplyDeleteOne thing about this blog, it makes very few errors in information, just that some do not readily admit what happens in the girls game.
