So it is disappointing to see walk-overs. In the seniors Durham (home of a premiership club??) and Sussex were unable to raise teams, while Staffs and Warwickshire cannot enter a U15 side (and have to combine for the U18s), and Cheshire with no junior county teams at all. What happens to girls from these areas, I wonder?
Herts had a mixed weekend - the U18s (with Sydney!) being unbeatable (again - when did they last lose?), while the seniors and U15s were less fortunate.
Meanwhile Sasha was playing back with Eastern Counties seniors and scored a dramatic try - see comments!

Herts U18 last loss??
ReplyDeleteSunday 29 September 2009 - Hampshire Under 18s 27 Hertfordshire Under 18s 10 (at Petersfield)
Unless you know different?
That is probably the last loss - but I do not have a full set of results (though, if I hunted around I probably could find them). Last season they seemed to have it very easy - and most years since they were set up (especially after Essex declined) they tended to dominate the East at least.
ReplyDeleteThe stats do appear to be available on Rugby Roundup - select country as England women and RFUW CB Championship.
ReplyDeleteI was playing for Middlesex v Eastern Counties and so was glad to have my suspicions confirmed - that the replacement prop who scored against us was indeed Sasha Acheson(of this blog) and that she apparently had her own supporters club on the sidelines.
Great try resulting from a turnover in the EC 22 and Sasha ran the length of the pitch to score - although not so great to be on the receiving end!
Despite the result being awful for Middlesex having been unbeaten 2006-2009 (did not play 2010), hopefully the result will prove a boost to Eastern Counties women's rugby, as I have heard there are funding/recognition issues for women's representative rugby there.
