Meanwhile at a nearby women's team...

Those of you who went along to Hitchin a couple of weeks ago may be interested to know how our nearest women's team are getting on in their promotion battle (especially as the RFU seem to have forgotten to add any women's results to their database for the past week or so. Strange - all the men's results seem up-to-date...).

Basically they are now top of the league... but far from certain of promotion. Two weeks ago Hitchin Ladies ran out 44-10 winners over bottom place Slough, but last weekend crashed 25-15 to Marlow - mainly as a result, it seems, of indiscipline. It seems they kept arguing with the ref, found themselves marched 40 metres down the field,  and carried on arguing as Marlow took the chance to score. Then (incredibly) they did it again - and that 10 point margin was the difference between the teams! (I don't know... adults today... no respect for authority...I bet it was that Rachel...).

Anyway - with two games to go the table looks something like this (3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a defeat - plus the usual bonuses - I think):

Team P W D L F A Diff B Pts
Hitchin 6 4 0 2 152 69 103 3 17
Marlow 4 4 0 0 97 30 67 3 14
Kilburn 5 3 0 2 89 96 -7 3 14
Tabard 6 1 0 5 10 97 -87 4 12
Slough 3 0 0 3 15 81 -66 0 3

Hitchin's two remaining games are against Slough (15th February) and Marlow (22nd). The latter looks like the "big one", so if you aren't intending to go to the county day in Kent that Sunday maybe you could go along and give your possible future teammates a cheer!

Other remaining fixtures:
8 February: Marlow v Tabard
8 March: Slough v Marlow
29 March: Slough v Kilburn
TBA: Kilburn v Marlow
