Jimmies
This Sunday Letchworth hosted Aylestone St James ("Jimmies") and Ampthill for matches in both age groups. In the U15 fixture, Ampthill played Jimmies with the Letchworth girls being divided between them : Sydney played for Ampthill -
while Jess, Laura and Ellah played for Jimmies -The Letchworth girls played very well and contributed equally to the scores of the sides with Ellah and Sydney each scoring tries. The final result was a win for Jimmies by 70-5.
At the same time, in the U18s match, Letchworth were playing Jimmies. The match did not start well for Nikki as, having collected the ball from the kick off, she was injured in the first tackle of the match! Although she managed to rejoin the field after treatment - and remained on until the end - she was hampered by the injury and the team had to restructure to account for that with Carla taking over the kicking duties, etc.
The game was very well balanced with the sides exchanging tries and neither side getting ahead by more than 5 points until the final few minutes. Mel scored all the Letchworth points with an excellent hat-trick of tries but Jimmies scored a couple of tries late on to seal a 25-15 victory.
