Less excitement overall so far today, though the "warm-up" game at Esher sounds a classic, Nomads beating England A 22-19 thanks to an injury time try from Worcester's flanker Pippa Crew - which must have been particular enjoyable as she used to be a regular for England A. RFU Report.

The Six Nations game that followed it was rather a different matter, however, Despite a whole hat-full of changes, England were way too powerful for Italy. Maggie Alphonsi started the deluge in the opening minutes, and by half-time six players had shared six tries as England went in 39-0 up. Things slowed a little in the second half, but the final score of 68-5 was - apparently - a fair reflection of English domination. Scrumqueens report.

An amazing backdrop for the USA Sevens in Las Vegas

Over in Las Vegas the main tournament semi-finals will not be until the early hours our time, but USA beat the Canadian B team (the Maple Leafs) 26-7 in the plate final , while the Tyrolians (incidentally that is how USA rugby spell it, before anyone says anyway!) regained some pride from their final game against Hawaii - some good moves, but unable to stop Hawaii winning 34-0.

Interestingly, Hawaii's best player - Natasha Kai - scored two tries in this game, in addition to her tries against Spain and USA. A high profile (and fairly eccentric) member of the USA's international football team, she is fast, with great changes of direction, and could be a great addition to the USA's team at 7s or 15s - if she can be persuaded to stay in the game. If they have any sense USA Rugby will be working on that right now!

Natasha is just the latest player to successfully jump codes, a list that includes Nichole Beck of Australia, and Scotland's brightest new star Caroline Collie.
